| Mill Hill School Scholarships, Exhibitions and Bursaries BACK TO HOMEPAGE Information for applicants for places in all year groups entering the School in September 1999 Fourth Form Awards General Terms and Conditions Candidates for Scholarships must be over 12 years old and under 14 years old on 1st June 1999 and must be registered for entry to the School in September 1999. The School will require a written reference on each candidate from the Head of his or her present school. All Awards are reviewed annually and are subject to the recipient performing at a satisfactory standard during the course of the preceding year. The value of an Award will attract the same annual percentage rise as the School Fees. Academic Awards Mill Hill School funds up to ten Academic Awards annually. These are available equally to boys and girls, and to both day and boarding pupils. Academic Scholarships carry a value of up to half fees; Exhibitions may have a value up to one quarter fees. All candidates for an Academic Award must sit the Scholarship Examinations, which will be held on 11th and 12th January 1999. Candidates will normally be expected to sit papers in English, Mathematics, Science, French and Latin, plus a Non-Verbal Intelligence Test. Candidates not currently taking Latin will not sit the Latin paper. Bursaries Bursaries (including boarding bursaries) will be awarded to pupils entering the Fourth Form in September 1999. They are offered at the discretion of the Headmaster for a specified period. Before a bursary is awarded a detailed statement of the parents financial circumstances will be required in writing. Applications for bursaries should be made by letter to the Headmaster, who will take into account the pupils personal qualities and aptitudes and the contribution he or she is likely to make to the School. The value of a bursary is up to 90% remission of fees and will be dependent on proven financial need. Selection is through examination and interviews, which will be held at the School on 16th January 1999. Music Awards Music Scholarships and Exhibitions may be awarded annually; the value of these is up to half fees. Candidates may enter for either an Academic Award or a Music Award or for both. Candidates for a Music Award who do not wish to sit the Academic Scholarship Examinations should nevertheless expect to perform at a sound level in the Schools Entrance Examinations. Art Awards One Art Award may be made annually; the value of this is up to one quarter fees. Candidates will be required to submit a portfolio of recent work. Candidates for an Art Award who do not wish to sit the Academic Scholarship Examinations should nevertheless expect to perform at a sound level in the Schools Entrance Examinations. External Trust Funds There are a number of awards funded by external Trust Funds; the Headmaster nominates candidates for these on the basis of the Schools normal interviews and Entrance Examinations and the reference from the Head of the candidates present school.
Bursaries for Pupils Entering the Remove A Bursary may be awarded to a pupil entering the School in the Remove year, at the discretion of the Headmaster. An application for such a Bursary should be made by letter to the Headmaster, who will take into account the pupils personal qualities and aptitudes and the contribution he or she is likely to make to the School. Before a bursary is awarded a detailed statement of the parents financial circumstances will be required in writing.
